Teaching Aims: Knowledge: 1. The new words: began, ago, in---out, topic, practice, topic 2. Talk about the past. Ability: 1. Develop the students’ abilities of listening, speaking reading and writing. 2. Develop the students’ ability for fast response. Moral education:Love our lives. Import points: 1. The new words. 2. The past tense of some verbs: begin, learn Difficulty points: Using the past tense of some verbs. Teaching aids: The word cards, some pictures and CD Teaching steps: Step 1 Revision: a. Look at the word cards read and say sentences with some of them.

b. Ask someone to say how to use the simple past tense. c. Say sentences using simple past tense. Step 2 Learn the new words: a. Ask the students to look at the phonetics to read the new words freely. b. Read the words they can’t read well after the teacher. c. Ask someone to read out. Step 3 Learn some verbs’ simple past tense: a. Teacher tell them hoe to turn the verbs into simple past tense. b. To turn some verbs into past tense. c. Say sentences with the verbs’ past tense. Step 4 Knowledge 1. Use the pictures in speaking. E.g.--- Look, this is a boy. Guess ---Who’s the boy? ---What’s the old man doing? 2. To learn to say the dialogue. Let the students listen to the tape recording with their books closed. Q1: Where were you? Q2: Were there a lot of new books in the bookshop? Q3: Were you interested in them? Q4: Which book did you buy?

Step 5 Listen and talk: a. Listen to the tape and then say out what you hear. Say the questions or problems and discuss. b. Ask and answer in pairs according to the dialogue. c. Read the diary. Step 6 Practice S1: When did you begin to learn English? S2: I began to learn English three years ago. We have learned a lot of words and sentences. And I can use them in and out of class. S1: What are you interested in ? S2: We are very interested in topics like school life, daily life, family, sports holidays and animals. Step 7 Homework: 1.
