Unit 2 There is a park near my home Learning aims: Knowledge: The new words: near, in front of, between, post office, next to, supermarket, across, right, left... Ability:

1. Describe our community.

2. Develop the pupils’ abilities of listening speaking reading and writing. 3. Develop the pupils’ ability for observing all kinds of things. Moral education: Love our community.

Difficult and important points: 1. The new words in this unit. 2. Describe one place with “on the right of, between...and, next to ”.

3. Use “on the right/left of, next to” to describe one place. Teaching aids:

The picture of “our community”, the word cards and a tape. Teaching steps: Step 1 Warm-up Guessing game: where am I?

Do silent performance in front of students. Ask students to guess where I am. The corresponding card is sent to the correct person to prepare for the back.(bank, hospital, school, hotel, supermarket, park) Step 2 The new words: 1. Look at the new word cards and then ask everyone to try to read aloud. 2. If he can’t read it well, others may help them. 3. Read and make up sentences with some of them. Step 3 Presentation

①Introduce a new student, Susan. Guide the students into the situation. T: Look at our new friend, Susan. She moved to her new home last week. What’s near her home? Show the text and pictures, and present the residential environment of Susan as a whole.and then this is a community. ②The teacher uses the picture to carry on the whole introduction. ③Review the facilities of the community and break through the key sentence patterns. Guide students to review the facilities one by one, and use simple pictures on the blackboard to make simple maps, and break through the key sentence patterns.there is/are .... near/behind/beside/across...,Help students to be familiar with “There be sentence patterns” and express these prepositions about the orientation of the table.. Step 4 Discussions:

Pupils say out the questions or problems when they did their preparing or study themselves. Step 5 Drills:

1. Look at the picture of our community. Talk about our community 2. Using the phrases: ”next to, in front of, between...and”

Step 6 Grammar “there be”

Basic situation of there be sentence pattern 1.

definition: There be sentence pattern indicates that there is something or somebody somewhere. 2.

structure: (1) There is + singular countable noun / uncountable noun + adverbial of place. (2) There are + plural nouns + place adverbial. Note: “there” is a guide word. It doesn't act as a constituent in a sentence, nor does it need to be translated. The subject of a sentence is someone or something. The verb verb be must be consistent with the number of subjects (someone or something). When the subject is two or more than two nouns, the predicate verb should be consistent with the noun nearest to it.

Such as:

Step 7 Practices: ①Read freely Read freely and aloud ②Talk about the passage ③According to the illustration, we discuss the use of community facilities. Training students' ability to express their spoken language. ④播放录音，第一遍整体展示文本。第二遍跟读模仿。第三遍分组朗读课文。

(4) play the recording and display the whole text. Repeat and imitate it at the second time . Read the text in groups at the third time. Step 9 Homework: 1. Try to recite the passage. 2. Describe your community according to the text.
