Teaching Aims:

1. Knowledge Objects 1).Function: Talk about how to refuse others’ invitation.

How to write a refusal.

2).Key Vocabulary: look after.

2. Ability Objects

1). To train students’ Listening and writing ability and integrating skills by task-based activities.

2). How to write a refusal. 3. Moral Objects

1). Enable students to make their own schedule properly.

2). To train students’ ability of cooperation, writing and listening.

Teaching important and difficult points:

1). Grasp the expressions about the days: the day before yesterday, the day after tomorrow, weekday... 2). Let students make different refusals according to different reasons. Write a short passage about the reasons why you can’t accept others’ invitations.

Teaching Steps：

Step 1. Lead in. 1. Greeting and enjoy a song Seven days of the week.

Get students to read twice by reviewing the days of a week.

Step II. Presentation. 1.

Show the teaching aims of this period.

2.

Review how to accept or refuse an invitation. 3.

Free talk: Make an invitation to your friends, get them to accept or refuse them.

4.

Teach the new words and phrases: weekday, the day before yesterday, the day after tomorrow, .... Then play game—Look and say to review the days.

5.

Finish 1a and 1b. Then check the answers.

6.

Ask and answer the date or the day in 1c.

Step III. Consolidation. 1. Listen to 1d and circle Vince can or can’t play tennis with Andy.

2. Listen and match Vince’s activities with the days in 1e.

3. Listen more. Listen again and fill in the blanks.

Vince can’t play tennis with Andy. He has to go to the ______ and study for a test today. Tomorrow, he has to play______. After that, he has a ______ lesson. And he

may have to ___________ his little sister the day before yesterday. He is really _____ this week.

Step IV. Practice(Writing)

1. After listening, check the answers with the class. (The teacher designs the listening statements by herself in order that they express how to refuse others’ invitation with their own words, just like a composition about refusal.)

2. The teacher teaches them how to write a refusal. Pay attention to the structure of it. 3. If you are Vince, write a refusal why you can’t accept Andy’s invitation in some minutes. The teacher should move around the classroom. 4. Ask students to read the refusal in the front of the classroom. Praise and encourage he/she is the best speaker.

Step V. Exercises

Do some exercises about filling in the blanks with the given words and check the answers.

Step VI. Summary 1.

Sum up the important knowledge points we’ve learned today.

Moral education: Enable students to make their own schedule properly and refuse others politely.

本单元的主题主要是邀请和回复邀请。通过本单元的学习，学生能够掌握对情态动词can作为“邀请”意义的用法，并学会接受和拒绝邀请并解释原因，能够合理规划自己的日程，并通过既定日程对他人邀请及礼貌回复。从而教会学生学会邀请、说服他人赴约的同时更要学会理解他人，再次强化了拒绝邀请的形式和解释的重要性。

这节课“以听促写”也是我们学校新研讨出来的的教学模式与课型，旨在既训练学生的逻辑思维能力和语言运用能力，又能得到提高学生的写作能力，让学生减少写作的畏难情绪，让学生由大量输入、示范学习到自我探究、合作习得，真正让学生爱上英语、爱上英语写作。
