教材分析：

本课是小学冀教版五年级上册第二单元Lesson 9The U.S.对于学生来说，the U.S.是一个学生不太熟悉的说英语的国家,通过单词和句型的学习,让学生了解并掌握更多the U.S.的基本情况:关于首都、语言、国旗和景点等。

学情分析：

本课是围绕美国的基本情况来展开教学，学生在前两课已经认识并掌握了China和Canada,已熟悉了单词capital，flag，map，famous places等，并且能够用自己的语言描述国家首都等。

教学目标：1.掌握单词：the U.S.,next to, Washington,D.C.,Stripe,,stars, the White House, the Statue of Liberty。

2.熟练使用of，star 3.能用英语介绍美国的国旗、名胜古迹和旅游景点。

重点：用英语介绍美国的首都、国旗、名胜。

难点：美国名胜古迹的正确读音以及地理位置。

课时:1课时

教学准备：ppt，图片，单词卡，磁带。

教学过程：

出示地图标出Canada,the U.S.的位置，加深next to的理解。

(边听录音边指单词，然后齐读回答问题，对所学新知加深印象。) <4>T：Turn to page24,and circle all the words of “the U.S.”and tell me what do you know? (出示课件展示课文第24页内容，让学生用自己的语言来描述在单词U.S.后的标点符号的使用，学生做笔记。) <5>T:Let’s do some exercise to check what you’ve learned in this lesson. （通过这个小练习检测学生掌握的情况）
