可数名词与不可数名词

1．可数名词

英语中的物质名词大体上可分为可数名词和不可数名词。可数名词指物体的数量可数。其单数形式可在名词前直接加a或an，表示一个，如a banana（一根香蕉）。其复数形式要在词尾加-s或-es（特殊情况除外），如two bananas（两根香蕉）。可数名词的数量除了用冠词a，an和基数词表示外，还可用下面的词表示：

many（许多）

如：many apples（许多苹果）

a few（几个）

如：a few students（几个学生）

few（很少）

如：few people（很少人）

2．不可数名词

(1)不可数名词指物体的数量不可数。不可数名词没有单复数之分，也不能在词前直接加冠词a或an。表示不可数名词的数量时可在不可数名词前加相应的由量词构成的短语。如；a bag of...一袋……

(2)常见的量词短语有：

a piece of（一片……）

a cup of（一杯……）

a teaspoon of...（一茶匙……）

a bottle of...（一瓶……）等。

(3)不可数名词还可用下面的词表示数量：

much（许多）

如：much rain大量的雨

a little（有点，一点）如：a little water一点水

little（很少）

如：little meat一丁点儿肉

(4)既可修饰可数名词又可修饰不可数名词的词有：

lots of＝a lot of（许多，大量）

some（一些）用于肯定句

any（一些）用于否定句和一般疑问句

3．汉语中可数英语中不可数的名词

有许多东西在汉语里是可数的，在英语中却不可数，如news, furniture, bread等，这时如果要表示“一……”这类概念需加a piece of这类定语，例如：

a piece of news一条新闻

a piece of information一条消息

a piece of bread一块面包

a bottle of ink一瓶墨水

a cup of tea一杯茶

4．可数名词复数的构成方法

(1)规则变化的复数的形式：

①一般情况下加-s。例如: girl—girls, pen—pens, book—books, bag—bags等。

②以x, s, ch, sh结尾的名词加-es。例如：

bus—buses, box—boxes, watch—watches等。

③以辅音字母+y结尾的，变y为i，再加-es。例如：

city—cities, country—countries等。

④以f或fe结尾的，把f或fe变成v，再加-es。例如：

knife—knives, leaf—leaves等。

(2)不规则变化的复数形式：

①元音发生变化的。例如：man—men, woman—women, foot—feet, tooth—teeth等。

②词尾发生变化的。例如：child—children等。

③单复数形式相同的。例如：

sheep—sheep, deer—deer, Chinese—Chinese, Japanese—Japanese等。
