T:Class begins! SS :Good morning, Miss Chen! T:Good morning ,boys and girls. How are you today? SS :I’m fine, thank you! T:At the beginning of this class, let’s listen a song ----Mascots. You can sing with it. Lead----in T: look, what’s this? (PPT出示项链图片) SS : A necklace. T:And what’s this?(PPT 出示土豆图片) SS :Potatoes. T:Who is he?(PPT出示JOE图片) SS :Joe. T:Great,today, let’s see what will happen between Joe and his mascots. Pre----reading

At first ,let’s listen to the whole story and find out what does Joe choose, the necklace or the potatoes?

Then let’s listen it again and try to divide the story into 3 parts.

Part 1 is pciture1-3.Part 2 is picture 4-11.Part 3 is picture 12-16. While----reading

Let’s come to the first picture. Who are they?(Joe and his wife)Let’s see what does Joe say to his wife----Bye ,darling! And his wife says----Bye, and don’t forget the potatoes. So Joe rides his horse to buy the potatoes. But on the way, he finds something special, so he asks----what’s that? Can you tell me what’s that? (A necklace.)Joe is so happy and he says----It looks great. But he didn’t notice there is a big tree. An Indian man shouts----Watch out!

T: Now I want you to act the dialogue. Boys act Joe and girls act the Indian man. Ready? GO!

Then let’s change.

Now I have a question: Does Joe like the necklace? How do you know?

Joe falls down. The Indian man asks----Are you OK? And Joe says----My head hurts. T: I want two of you come to the front to read it. Who wants to have a try?(Ask two students to act)

And then Joe comes to the shop to buy the potatoes. Let’s listen what does he say?(播放图片6-7)

An hour later, Joe comes back and finds his potatoes are gone. So he asks----Where are the potatoes? The potatoes are on the ground and Joe falls down, his jeans and shirts are dirty. He thinks it’s because of the necklace. So he throws the necklace and says----stupid necklace!

T: I want some of you come to the front to read it. Who wants to have a try?(Ask some students to act) Now I have a question: Does Joe like the necklace? How do you know? Let’s see picture 12.Who gets the necklace?(An old man)Can you guess what is he going to do? Let’s listen picture13-15 and find out the answer. The old man sells the necklace and gets 100 silver dollars. Can you guess what’s the feeling of Joe? He says in the last picture----stupid me! Now I have a question: Does Joe like the necklace? How do you know? Post----reading Let’s listen the story and try to retell the story.(留出几分钟时间让学生单独完成) At first, Joe says---- stupid necklace! But at last, he says---- stupid me! Which one is stupid? From the story, we know that----Mascots can’t always bring us good luck!
