Teaching Procedures Step 1 Warming-up & Lead-in (About 3 minutes)

T plays a song: The seven days of the Week Song. (3)

Ss review the days of the week Step 2 Activity : finish the calendar (About 5 minutes) (1)

T shows the days of the week in a large monthly calendar (2)

Point out the days of the week at the top of the calendar and ask Ss to read these words aloud. (3)

Ask a student to point out today’s date, tomorrow’s date, the day before yesterday’s date and the day after tomorrow’s date.

Step 3 group work (About 6 minutes) (1) Ss work in groups, make conversations by using the flash cards: --What’s the date today? It’s June 5th.

--What day is it today? It’s Wednesday.

-- What’s today? It’s Wednesday the 5th. (2) Ask some students to present their conversations. Step 4 game: What’s today? (About 5 minutes) Each of Ss keep a card of date, T chooses a date, the student put her/his date card on the blackboard, T asks question:

What’s today/yesterday/tomorrow/the day before yesterday/the day after tomorrow? The student answer. Then the student can choose another date and ask question about date. Step 5 Listening task (About 18 minutes) (1)

Pre-task T points to the picture in 1d, asks Ss to describe the picture.

Ss read the phrases in the box. Ss make the prediction. (2)

While-task T shows the question: Can Vince play tennis with Andy? T plays the tape, Ss answer the question, circle “Yes” or “No”.

T plays the tape again, Ss match Vince’s activities with the days in 1d.

Check the answer.

Ss listen again, complete the sentences. Check the answer. (3)

Post-task (pair work) Student A is Andy and student B is Vince. Andy invites Vince to play tennis. T shows the frame, Ss make their own conversations. Step 6 Summary (About 3 minutes) Ss sum up the words, phrases and target language:
