教学目标

1. Learn to make, accept and refuse invitations politely . 2. Learn to talk about the things that have to be done by using “have to”“ must”

“might”. 3. Learn the usage of “can” or “can’t”

4. Improve students’listening , speaking and writing skills .

教学重点：

1) 词汇：prepare for an exam， go to the doctor， have a flu ，help my parents，meet my aunt， go to the movies, 2) 语言结构: a. 用Can……?发出邀请。

b. 用Sure, I’d love to. 接受邀请。

c. 用I’m sorry, I can’t. I have to ……拒绝邀请并说明理由。

3)句型:Can you come to my party/go to the …?

Sure, I’d love to.

I’m sorry, I can’t. I have to/might/must …

I’m sorry, I am not available . Thanks for doing sth . Maybe another time

教学难点：目标词汇和句型在实际情况中的应用。

教学过程

Step 1: Warm up and lead in 1.Watch a short movie and answer questions : ① Where are they going ? ② Are they having a good time ? 2.Free talk with students to learn something about them and review the word “can”. Discuss what you can do in a party. Step 2: Presentation T: My birthday is coming. I want to have a party this Saturday. Can you come to my party on Saturday? 1．Show pictures and teach them how to accept my invitations. 2．Sometimes you have other things to do ,so you can’t go .Show more pictures and learn the useful expressions : go to the doctor have the flu meet my friends prepare for an exam. etc. 3．Help them to learn how to refuse invitations politely . Step 3: Pairwork Students work in pairs .One invite the other to do some activities .

A: Can you…? B: Sorry, I can’t. I have to/must/might…. A: That’s too bad. Maybe another time. B: Sure. Thanks for asking Step 4: Listening and oral practice 1. Activity 1a. Let Ss match the words with the pictures. Check the answers. 2. Activity 1b. Sunning is going to have a party .He is inviting his friends to his party . Listen and answer questions : ① How many friends did he invite ? ② Who can come to his party ? Then play the tape again. Who can’t come to the party and why. Ss listen to the tape again and write the names( Tim, Kay, Anna and Wilson) in the pictures. 3. Listen to the tape again and write sentences to tell the reasons. Step 5: Writing practice Christmas Day is coming .Tom wants to have a Christmas party .Here is his invitation card. Work in groups and write an invitation. Students make up conversations. Step 6: Presentation 1.Activity 2a Anna is going to have a party .Who can come or who can not come ? Listen and circle can or can’t . 2. Activity 2b Listen again and complete the chart . Step 7: Groupwork Divide the whole class into groups of five. The leader invites the members to go camping. Do a survey to find out who can come and who can’t .Fill in the form and then give a report . Step 8: Summary and homework 1. Review the new words and sentence patterns. 2. Summary what we learnt today. 3. Homework.
