Get students to be able to talk about TV programs. 3.

To grasp the important sentences:

What do you want to watch?

--What do you think of talk shows?

--They are OK. I don’ mind them.

Teaching procedures:

Step 1: Lead-in

Greet the class and ask them two questions: Do you like watching TV?

What’s your favorite TV programs?

Step 2: Introduction to new words

I.

Show students the pictures of TV programs and ask them ‘What kind of TV

program is it?’ Give detailed explanation to words: sitcom, news, soap opera, game show.

II. A game to check their learning: Play a video and let Ss write down the TV shows appeared in it in order.

Step 3: Words practice

Let students finish the 1a on Page 33 and check answers.

Step 4: Listening

Listen to the tape and finish 1b on Page 33. Then the teacher asks students to give their answers.

Step 5: Pair work

First ask students to read the conversation in 1c. Then show them the sentence

pattern ‘ What do you think of...?/ How do you like...?’ and possible answers.(I love/like/don’t like/can’t stand/don’ mind them.)

A: What do you want to watch?

B: What do you think of talk shows?

A: They are OK. I don’t mind them.

B: Then let’s watch a talk show.

II. Students make their own conversations with their partners. III. Ask a few pairs of students to present in front of the class. Step 6: Listening practice：
