Use superlative words to fill in the blanks. Each student who can give the correct answer can get a piece of paper from a picture. 1. The Yangtse River is _________ river in China. 2. Zhaozhou Bridge is ________ bridge in China. 3. Beijing is the second ______ city in China. 4. Peking duck is one of _____________ food in China. 5. Mount Huang is ______________ mountain in China. Step 2: Lead-in a.

Ask the five students to complete the picture with the pieces of paper.

b. Enjoy a video about Chaoshan area. Step 3: Before writing

Look at the pictures and talk about the things we can write about our hometown—Chaoshan Area. Location, language (Teochewese), places of interest, food, culture (Chao Opera). b.

Review the common structure of a passage. Para.1: Brief introduction Para.2: Special information about the area Para.3: A conclusion

Ask the students to make their own mind map. Each group will have several key words about the information of Chaoshan Area. Discuss and put them in different paragraph. d.

Show some of the main maps. e.

Present many adjectives. Ask the students to discuss what adjectives they can use to describe the hometown. Then the group leader can come to the blackboard to pick the words.

Step 4: Writing

Write an article about 80words to describe your hometown—Chanshan Area.. Don’t forget to use the superlative words.. Step 5: After writing

Show several students’ articles to find the beautiful expression or mistakes.

Ask the students to read their writing aloud.

Summarize how to write about a place. List some important information of the place Put the information in different paragraphs.
