, 表示越来越…, 单音节词结构为and连接同一个词的两个比较级形式，如：colder and colder 越来越冷

in common 意为“共有，共同”，common作名词，意为“与…

…相同”。common还可做形容词，意为“共同的，常见的”

。

be up to sb.

意为“______________, __________”. 常用到的结构为：it’s up to sb. to do sth.

“做某事是某人的职责/做某事由某人决定”。

▲They usually play a role in deciding the winner.

他们通常承担着评判优胜者的角色。

Play a role 是一种固定表达，意为“扮演某一角色；起到某种作用”。若要进一步引出具体的内容，后面应用介词in，表示“在某事或某个方面起到作用或承担某种角色”。
