Analysis of the teaching material Thanksgiving in the United States是一篇阐释性说明文。阅读语篇为两个主要部分，一是美国感恩节由来的小短文，二是火鸡制作的过程和方法。作者通过对美国感恩节的介绍，使读者从多方面了解美国历史文化，节日传统和中西方文化的差异。文章从不同方面介绍了感恩节：1. Where do people celebrate Thanksgiving? 2. When to celebrate it? 3.Why to celebrate it? 4. How to celebrate it? 5. What to eat and how to make it?在第二部分介绍火鸡的制作过程时，

用到了描述食物制作的的祈使句及相关动词短语，如：mix together, fill ...with, place ... on, cover ...with等等。
