their attitude towards different kinds of TV shows. 3.

Learning strategy: To understand the passage with questions.

Teaching steps: Step 1: Greetings: to motivate Step 2:Review：to lead in the topic

T shows some pictures of TV shows and asks what they are. Each picture has a symbol, and students will tell “like/don’t like/can’t stand/don’t mind/love”

the kind of TV show. (This learnt in the previous lesson and students can have a quick review.) Step 3: A short pair work-practice and check

T asks students to work in pairs and make a short dialogue like following:

Step 4: lead in with pictures

T shows some more pictures of TV shows. And this time, T asks why people like that kind of TV show.

[This is to lead in the new sentences or phrases today.] Step 5:passage reading-get information

T leads ss to listen and read the passage, first match the persons with their favorite shows. And then answer the questions: What did Sarah do in class today?

Does Grace like soap operas? Why? What does Sarah think of soap operas? Why does Sarah like news and talk shows best?

[ This is to help students understand the passage] Step 6: read the passage 1.

Read together following the tape 2.

Group 1&2 reads as Grace, and Group 3&4 read as Sarah. Then exchange. Step 7: Language points Step 8: Retell

T shows a short passage with blanks. Students try to fill in the blanks and retell the passage with this short one. Step 9: pair work

Students work in pairs to ask and answer about what they plan to watch tonight and why.

Step 11: group work(3c)

Students work in groups of 4 to make a survey. This is part 3c on the book. After finish the table, each group( if time permits) make a report. The example will be given:
