ⅠBackground information

This lesson is intended for Grade 9 students. There are 41 students in the class, 23 boys and 18 girls. The big-size class requires the teacher to design some controlled practice to cover the majority of the class. The lesson lasts 45 minutes. Students are able to understand the basic teacher instruction in English. Ⅱ

Teaching aims By the end of the lesson, the students should be able to: 1.

review the important words and phrases about unit 1 and unit 2: matter, stomach, passenger, sick, climber, journey, have a cold, lie down, make a difference, etc. 2.

review and master the important knowledge points and the core test points: the usage of “What’s the matter?” ; tell the differences between “lie” and “lay” , the differences of “used to do, be used to doing, be used to do” and the differences of “alone” and “lonely”. 3.

make use of the guidance of the middle school entrance examination and then complete the exercises to check the gaps and fill the gaps, then consolidate the knowledge of unit 1&2. Ⅲ
