Step 2 Review & lead in

Free talk: What do you usually do on weekends? 1) Teacher gives students 2 minutes to talk bout their weekend activities in pairs. 2)

Invite volunteers to present out. 3)

Play a game to review the activity phrases we’ve learnt in section A Step 3 Presentation 1)

Teacher shows a picture of calendar; let students see the information in the calendar.

Then let students look at the words in 1a, and read after the teacher. After that, let students write the dates for this week on the calendar. 3)

T: Now look at the word in 1b. I’ll ask one student to read the words to the class and catch their meanings.

Then write these words below the correct dates on the calendar in 1a. 4)

T: Now you will hear a dialogue. It’s about how to ask the date. Then make a new dialogue with your partner (pair work in 1c) E.g.:---What’s the date today? ---It’s May the 17th. ---What’s today? ---It’s Friday, the 17th.

---What will you do tomorrow? ---Nothing. ---Can you go shopping with me ? ---Sure, I’d love to. 5)

Invite several pairs to show out. Step 4 Listening practice

(1d&1e) 1）listen to the recording and find out whether Vince can play tennis with Andy. Circle Yes or No. 2) play the recording again. And let students match Vince’s activities with the days in 1d 3) fill in the chart and check the answers 4) listen and fill in the blanks of the listening material, then check the answers together Step 5 Role-play According to the recording, one student is Vince, and the other one is Andy. Practice the dialogue. Teacher can set an example.
