Read the new words and phrases aloud; 3.

Show the Chinese meanings of the new words and phrases on the PPT. Step 2 Lead in Look at the pictures on Page 38. Do you know who the man is? What happened to the building? Step 3 Reading 1.

Skim reading Listen and ask the students to read the title and first sentences of each paragraph and try to find the answer to the questions. 2.

Fast reading

Read the passage quickly, and try to answer the two questions. 3.

Detail reading Read the passage carefully and finish the tasks in 2c and 2d. Check the students’ answers. Step 4 Homework Write the new words and phrases on your exercise book.
