Lesson 21 What Year Is it? Learning Aims: a.

Knowledge aims: master the twelve animals. Know how to ask and answer “what is your/her/his year?’

Ability aims: Cultivate the ability to use English in our daily life.

Emotional aims: Let students know animals are our friends. We should love and protect animals from now on.

Warming-up

Review the 12 animals. Warm up by playing a guessing game.

New Lesson Make a chant about the 12 animals.

Listening.

Listen to the tape for two times. And then fill in the blanks. Check the answers in part 1. 4.

Reading.

Read part 2 aloud and then answer the following questions:

What’s Li Ming’s year? How old is Jenny?

Is there a year of the cat? What’s Danny’s year? 5.

Practice.

Practice the sentence pattern “What is your/ her/ his year?”, “My/ Her/ His year is________.”

Exercise connected with our daily life. 6.

Group Work. What is your year? Talk about Chinese years in groups. Make a dialogue. 7.
