Lesson 2 What Do They Look Like?

一、教学目标分析

1.知识与技能目标

(1)学生能听懂、会说、认读和书写white、hair、black、uncle、aunt、cousin、thin七个单词。

(2)学生能认读、理解并运用下列句式-- What do they look like?-- He/She has________(hair/eyes). He/She is ________(short/tall/thin/fat).描述他人的长相。

2.情感态度目标

(1)学生能体会到英语学习的乐趣,保持学生英语学习的动力。

(2)关注关爱自己的家庭和朋友。

3.教学重点、难点分析:

1. 学生能听懂、会说、认读和书写white、hair、black、uncle、aunt、cousin、thin七个单词。

二、教学问题诊断

本课核心话题是用He/She has________(hair/eyes). He/She is ________(short/tall/thin/fat).描述家庭成员的长相。五年级的学生在三、四年级时,已经学过颜色、家庭成员中的father, mather, brother, sister;还有short, tall, fat, thin这些描述人的形态的词汇;在本册第一课Li Ming’s Big Family中学习了grandfather, grandmother,aunt, uncle,cousin这几个家庭成员的词汇。并且对第三人称单数动词的变化也有了一定的了解,也能够对

一些简单的问题进行回答,如“、what colour is/are ______? Is she/he tall or short?”等。学生已具备了学习新知识的基础。在新授的过程中学生可能还会在三单形式have-has上出现问题,用have/has描述长相也可能会出现用His/Her hair is _____.这样的描述。

三、本节课的教法特点以及预期效果。

本节课的教法设计主要运用游戏法、情境教学法和任务型教学法。让学生在丰富多彩的教学活动中轻松愉快的掌握新知,并能运用新知流利的描述家人及朋友的长相。

四、教学过程设计:

Step 1 :Class opening and review

1、Greetings:

T: Good morning ,boys and girls .Nice to see you again! S: Good morning, Miss Zhang,nice to meet you. T: Are you ready for our English class? S: Yes! Let’s begin!

2. Let’s review.( ppt) T: Do you remember the words in the last lesson we learn? Look at the screen(PPT)!If you know the answer please stand up and speak out loudly. T: Last class, Li Ming introduced his family to us, this class ,let’s introduce our families.

Ask some students to introduce their families.

T: Well done. We have already met Li Ming’s family, do you want to know what they look like? Today we are gonging to have a new lesson“What do They Look Like?”

Step 2 : New concepts

1、presentation Enjoy a song “Finger Family”

Look at the “Finger Family” and talk about the members of family.

T:Look ! This is baby finger. T: What colour is her hair ? Ss: Her hair is purple. T: What colour are her eyes? Ss: Her eyes are black. T: Is she short or tall? Ss: She is short. T: What does she look like?

She has short and purple hair, she has black eyes,she is short. Ss:She has short and purple hair, she has black eyes,she is short. 2、Practice Describe some cartoon characters. Step 3 :

Text :

1、Let’s listen to the text. 2、Read the text and fill in the chart.

3、Ask and answer.

Check the answers of the chart. Then ask the questions in pairs like

part 2. 4. Describe your family or your friends. Step 4 Extension Guessing game:

Example: He is a boy. He is green. He has only three hairs. He is our friend. Who is he? Different appearances,different countries, but we are friends. Step5: Homework : Write a short passage to describe your family or your friends on your pictures. Board—writing(板书) Lesson 2:

五、教学反思

在本节课的教学中,首先是以抢答的形式复习了家庭成员词汇,调动了学生的积极性,激发了学生的学习兴趣。接着让学生介绍了自己的家人,一是检查了学生对上节课的掌握情况,又检查了学生完成作业的情况。然后,以一首歌曲“Finger Family”来开始新课的学习,对学生保持学习兴趣是有帮助的。接着通过问答的方式展示“Baby Finger”的形象,如:What colour is her hair? Wha t colour are her erys? Is she tall or

short?从而引出描述长相也可以用She has_____hair/eyes. She is______(tall/short/fat/thin).这样的句式。通过旧知引出新知,过渡平缓自然,学生易于接受。然后让学生以小组为单位在组内讨论Finger Family其他成员的长相来进一步掌握新知,突破难点。在课文环节,呈现表格,学生带着任务听读课文,提取信息完成表格,可以全面的理解课文。并让学生拿出事先准备好的画来描述家人或朋友的长相。最后是一个guessing game,让学生通过老师的描述猜出来相对应的人物。

作业是教学的延伸和补充,是教师用来检查教学效果的重要手段,为了更好的巩固所学,让学生写一篇自己家庭成员或朋友长相的短文。
