Review and lead-in

I will play a song, ask students to clap hands and sing along the song. Then go over the days of a week and the months of a year. 2.

Presentation Show a calendar to students, “Today is Tuesday, right? So how to ask about it ? and today is June 11th, how to ask about it ? If I want to ask the day and the date together,

what should I say”, then lead to the question “What’s today?” and the answer “It’s Tuesday the 11th.”

Then I will show some quick flashes of the calendar. Ask students to look at the calendars carefully, and try to say the questions and the answers. 3.

1a and 1b 1a: Ask students to write the dates for this week on the calendar. 1b: Write the words (yesterday/tomorrow/the day before yesterday/the day after tomorrow/weekday/weekend) on the calendar in 1a. 4.

Competition Ask students, “What do you have to do today/tomorrow...?”

Show a turning table to students, there are some activities on it, ask students to say these activities in English. Invite three students to do a competition, I will turn the table, when the pointer points to an activity, the students should say the activity quickly and loudly, the first one will help his or her group gets points. Let students to guess what I have to do today/tomorrow? And show my schedule to students. 5.

An invitation from Matt. Yesterday I got an invitation from my friend Matt.He will hold a party. He wants to invite me to his party. Show Matt ’s invitation to students. Then ask “What did Matt say? What kind of party is it ? Can I go to Matt’ s party today / tomorrow / the day after tomorrow?”

Show how I replied to Matt, then teach students how to accept and refuse an invitation. 6.

1d and 1e Listen. Matt wants to invite Vince to his party. Can Vince come to Matt' s party? Circle Yes or No. Listen again. Match Vince's activities with the days. 7.

Make a survey and do a report. Make a survey:

Ask students “Can you go to Matt’ s party? If you can, what gift will you bring? If you can't, why?”. Let student make a survey in their groups and show their surveys to students one by one. Do a report:

When the group are showing the survey, ask other students to take notes about the survey and then ask one student to do a report for the survey.
