I.population 的用法

Population：意为“人口数量”，“人口”，是一个集合名词

. 1.表示人口“多”要用large或big；表示人口“少”要用small。

China has the largest population in the world. 2.population常与定冠词the连用,

作主语用时,谓语动词常用第三人称单数形式。

The population of China is about 1,300,000,000. 中国人口大约有13亿。

3.当主语是表示“人口的百分之几、几分之几”时,谓语动词用复数形式

. eg:中国大约有百分之七十的人口是农民。

About seventy percent of the population in China are farmers

4.询问某国、某地有多少人口时, “How large...?”;“What...?”。

How large is the population of your hometown?

What is the population of Canada?

II.含有比较等级的短语

◆原级前可以用very，quite，rather，too，so，pretty, as…as..等修饰，表示程度。如：

The story is very interesting. ◆比较级前可以用much，a little，a bit，even 等修饰。

The shoes are a little bigger for me. ◆比较级的特殊句型

1．“The＋比较级，the＋比较级”意为“越……越……”。如：

The busier we are，the happier we will be.

2．“比较级＋and＋比较级”意为“越来越……”。如：

Our country is getting stronger and stronger. 3. the + 比较级

“两者之最”

“a/an + 比较级”

表示“又一，再一”

e.g. Lily has a doll, but she wants a bigger one. 5.

隐性比较（没有than的情况）

e.g. Who runs faster, Lucy or Lily? ◆最高级的特殊句型

1．疑问词＋be＋the＋最高级。如：

Which is the biggest，the sun，the moon or the earth? 2．“the＋序数词＋最高级”意为“第几……”。如：

The Yellow River is the second longest river in China.

3．“one of the＋最高级＋复数名词”意为“最……之一”。如：Shanghai is one of the biggest cities in the world. 4.比较级和最高级的转换

e.g. Qomolangma is the highest mountain in the world. = Qomolangma is higher than any other mountain in the world. = Qomolangma is higher than the other mountains in the world。
